Coffee
Brewers
There are
several different kinds of coffee brewers available, some of which do a
much better job of producing full-flavored, great tasting coffee than
others do. Whatever coffe brewer you choose make sure that you
understand it's benefits and limitations.
French Press
The French Press is a coffee brewer that makes a great cup of coffee if
used correctly. Unlike some other coffee brewers the French Press brews
the coffe in the hot water rather than having the water drip through
the coffee. Of course, something has to be done with the coffee grounds
and so after a few minutes a metal filter passes through the brewed
coffee and traps the grounds at the bottom of the brewer. The result is
a much higher quality coffee brew that has unmistakeable flavor.
Vacuum Brewer
The Vacuum Brewer is similar to the French Press in that it also brews
the coffee in the hot water, but it achieves this in a different way.
The pot has two sections connected by a hose with a filter in it. As
the water in the bottom section heats up it rises up to the top section
through the hose connecting the chambers. As the coffee begins to cool
after the brewing process the coffee water flows back down the tube
into the bottom section. This is another high quality coffee brewer
that will produce great results.
Drip Grind
These are the most common type of coffee brewers today and no doubt
they are most favored because of their ease of use, quick results, and
low cost. In this coffee brewer the water is dripped through the coffee
and filter and the coffee is deposited in the pot below. If a gold or
nylon permanent
filter is used this brewer can still produce a good coffee flavor, but
ifd a paper filter is used as is most often the case, the flavor of the
coffee will usually suffer greatly.
